Though parks such as Washington Square Park and Central Park may get more attention with New York apartment-ites, we must never forget the rich history of the city’s very first park, Bowling Green. Though it may not be the biggest, or feature the biggest number of attractions, its still one of the greatest parks in the city for taking in a little colonial history. It was here that numerous major

events in the nation’s history took place, and it still has the feel of a place rich with the air of our forefathers, swimming with the events that happened on those grounds many years ago. To step into Bowling Green is to step into history, and a visit to this park is a must for anyone with a New York apartment.

Bowling Green has a very rich history, many think that it may have been a common spot for Native Americans to meet even before the city was founded. After that it served as a cattle market, any then, shocker, a bowling green, where a statue of King George III, which was historically demolished by patriots after the reading the Declaration of Independence by George Washington. To this day the place is remembered as a piece of history, being declared an official historical marker by the United States Government.

Besides being such a historical hub, it’s also a popular place for those in the financial sector to relax. Its lush greenery and numerous tables and chairs makes it a perfect spot for a relaxing lunch after a stressful day in finance, and you can chat with friends about all the latest news and business, or all the latest gossip. It’s also a common place for food stalls, so there’s always a place to grab a quick bite on a short lunch break. Just be careful not to run afoul of any of the "grey market" goods that go on sale around the place. While lunching at the park, be sure to check out the famed "Charging Bull" statue. It was dropped off randomly in front of the New York Stock Exchange one morning, and when it was removed, citizens got so angry, it was relocated to the Bowling Green, and there it has stayed ever since. It has become the parks trademark in recent years, and remains a symbol of New York’s financial sector.

It may not get the attention that other parks receive, but Bowling Green still has a lot to offer New York apartment-ites, from its historical significance, to its relax accommodations, to the numerous goods and foods that can be found at its plaza, not to mention the short distance to many of the large financial companies in town, making it a calm and relaxing spot to take a load off after a long day of work.
